Into the Wild: An Ekphrastic Writing Workshop with Clare L. Martin (Writing inspired by Wild Trees II exhibit)Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This generative writing workshop will be centered on the group art exhibit Wild Trees II on display Oct 2-Nov2, 2021. The workshop will be facilitated by poet and author Clare L. Martin. The workshop is limited to 15 attendees, ages 16 and above. All skill levels are welcome. All efforts will be made to meet special accommodations for participants who may need them.
Please wear comfortable clothing. We will sit to write but we will do some physical movement so, please feel comfortable to move with us. Accommodations will be made for those with physical and other challenges to be included. manner.
Bring a “brown bag” lunch or midday snack and beverage or water bottle for breaks. Writing utensils and journals will be provided. To be held at TCA, 210 E. Bridge Street, Breaux Bridge, LA. $20 per person. Pre-registration required. Please complete the form below and make payment. Thank you!
Clare L. Martin’s third book of poetry, Crone, was published by Nixes Mate Books. Her second full-length collection of poetry, Seek the Holy Dark, was the 2017 selection for The Louisiana Series of Cajun and Creole Poetry from Yellow Flag Press. Her widely-acclaimed debut collection of poetry, Eating the Heart First, was published by Press 53. Martin’s poetry has appeared in Avatar Review, Blue Fifth Review, Thrush Poetry Journal, Melusine, Poets and Artists, and Louisiana Literature, among others. She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, Dzanc Books’ Best of the Web, for Best New Poets, and Sundress Publication’s Best of the Net. In 2015, she founded the online poetry and visual art magazine, MockingHeart Review. Martin also has endeavored to create visual art, working on a series of digitally-altered self-portraits since 2019. Martin is the Operations Support Specialist for the nonprofit Teche Center for the Arts located in Saint Martin Parish. She is a lifelong Louisiana resident.
