Cajun & Creole Kids’ Celebration Camp

This fun and inspiring Cajun and Creole arts and culture camp will offer chances to view a live cooking demonstration, taste the regional delicacy crawfish etouffee, (see information on food allergies on the form), race crawfishes, make crawfish art, play fun creative “crawfish-themed” games, and learn from a *real live* crawfish farmer how he and other crawfish farmers and fishermen help make Louisiana a great place by providing crawfish worldwide to families and restaurants.

Instructor Niki Thibodeaux is a lifelong resident of St. Martin Parish, a graduate of Cecilia High and ULL with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught kindergarten in the public school system in St. Martin Parish. She left teaching to homeschool her son Rory who is autistic. Her daughter, Enri is a French Immersion student at Teche Elementary. Thibodeaux has been married for 24 years. She enjoys teaching kids about their culture and all its meaning in the community she loves. Niki has inspired children’s creativity and confidence in every aspect of her professional and volunteer work.

TCA is offering the Cajun & Creole Kids’ Celebration Camp on Saturday, April 24, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and at 1-5 p.m. Open to students in grades 1-6. The fee is $40 per child. The fee includes all materials. Pre-registration required. One session per child. Limited to 20 children in each session. The camp will be held at Teche Center for the Arts, 210 W. Bridge Street, Breaux Bridge, LA. Parents must sign their child in and out at the TCA front office.
