In 2018, TCA’s Board of Trustees purchased the building in which TCA is housed; a historic 1940s movie theater in downtown Breaux Bridge. In the remaining months of 2019, the interior will undergo remodeling thanks to generous donors and community supporters. The action plan to upgrade the facility with accessible bathrooms is in the works, with construction beginning in the last two quarters of this year.
The facelift for TCA will help advance its mission as a Cajun and Creole cultural center, with programming such as our summer camps, Louisiana French educational courses, traditional Louisiana music performances, fais do-dos, and all forms of arts events. It will also expand the community’s options for wedding receptions, parties, and other rental functions.
During the construction phase, generous community partners St. Bernard School, Buck and Johnny’s Glass Room, Beau and Lisa McDaniel’s Antiquity, and Cafe Sydnie Mae will host TCA events while construction takes place. The magic continues!
There’s still a need for capital renovation funding of this project. We ask you to join us in taking the next steps forward. Please contact our office at (337) 366-0629 for opportunities for naming rights and legacy investments, or reach out to Coatney Raymond, Board of Trustees Chair (337) 344-7891.
Exciting programs and events for 2020 are in the planning stages and TCA invites the public to suggest ideas for classes and events. We insist our programs express the heart of our mission to serve as the principal Cajun and Creole cultural, arts, music, education, and historical center for residents and tourists of Saint Martin Parish and beyond.
