Young adults (12-18), French speaking or not, are encouraged to sign up for this FREE workshop at TCA, in collaboration with NUNU Arts and Culture Collective.
The Association culturelle « la maison de Léopold » brings to Louisiana the Martinique Carnival tradition of mask making. Thanks to the kindness of Jean-Luc Toussaint, sculptor, mask designer, and president of the association, La maison de Léopold in Martinique, the tuition is free to young adult workshops which are being held in Louisiana Cultural Districts along the Teche Corridor in Breaux Bridge, Cecilia and New Iberia.
The mask workshops are an opportunity to learn different techniques, spark creativity, develop initiative, and dexterity. Participants will leave the workshop with a bundle of unique French speaking experiences and a wealth of knowledge on this versatile creative process. The instructors are bilingual in both French and English. The workshop will be taught in French, but we encourage English speakers to enroll as well as everything can be explained in both languages. This retreat is highly recommended to help participants at all levels of French to loosen up and grow in their artistic and French speaking development.
